Arcade1Up Announces New Fast & Furious Home Arcade Game

Here on the Knapp Arcade site, I try to cover all things arcade, both commercial and home arcade. This morning Arcade1Up announced its next game, a home remake of the awesome Raw Thrills arcade driver, Fast & the Furious.

While I've always thought that the Fast and the Furious movies are horrendous, I've always loved the arcade franchise, which designed by Raw Thrills and Eugene Jarvis, was essentially the spiritual successor to the Cruis'n series of arcade games. I currently have a Cruis'n World in my basement arcade and I've always been interested in getting a legit commercial Fast & the Furious cab. I need standup cabinets for all of my driving games though because of space constraints. I have to see how this turns out when they actually start delivering them, but this may be an option.

While I obviously lean towards getting legit commercial arcade machines for my home arcade, I'm not opposed to 1Ups in certain situations. The Company's 4-player PONG pub table that includes Warlords is fantastic and gets a ton of use in my home arcade. 1Up's Star Wars cabinet with the reproduction flight yoke is pretty good as well. Just this week I ordered the 1Up T2 cabinet from Best Buy. The T2s were on sale for $400 off earlier this week. For $299 it will be a fun project for my youngest son and I to put together and I'm sure that it will get play when we have friends over to the arcade. Heck $299 is the price of a shooter rod for a pinball machine these days. Plus, the 1Up T2 cabinet utilizes the new Sinden Lightguns and I'm really curious to check them out.

I will strongly consider getting the Arcade1Up Wheel of Fortune "Casinocade" with Christopher Franchi drawn art that the Company announced a while ago if it ever comes out. In a way, it reminds me of the old school Megatouch games that I love. I own three different Megatouch-esque units at the moment, a Megatouch Aurora bartop that I upgraded with SSD and the latest software, a JVL Retro and a Midway Touchmaster Infinity. They announced this thing a while ago and I haven't heard a peep about it in months though so I don't know what the story with it is.

The Arcade1Up Fast & Furious includes two arcade games, The Fast & The Furious and The Fast & The Furious: Drift. I don't know that I'd buy more than one of these unless there was a massive sale, but up to four of them can be linked via a local network for head-to-head racing, which is really cool. It is available for pre-order at Best Buy for $599. The Best Buy page says that the game releases on May 5th, but I don't know how accurate that date is. Below is a link to the listing:
