The highly regarded industry veteran Butch Peel, who most recently designed the manual for Chicago Gaming Company's Pulp Fiction has revealed to friends that he has left the CGC. This morning a friend of his shared the following note from Butch with me and said that I could share it with everyone here.
"Just a quick message to let all of my pinball friends know that I resigned my position at Chicago Gaming Company this past Friday.
I've enjoyed working with CGC and Play Mechanix on great games like Cactus Canyon and Pulp Fiction. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors, but felt the need to step back due to differing priorities within the company.
I’m going to spend some time with my family, regroup and recharge my batteries a bit. I’m looking forward to spending some time with my new granddaughter next month. I just wanted people to know that I’ve made a change - and not find out about it by way of a “Butch Peel no longer works for us” email.
Thanks and God Bless,
Butch Peel"
Many regard Butch's pinball machine manuals as practically a work of art. He recently gave a seminar at the Northwest Pinball and Arcade show about the Pulp Fiction manual, which I have embedded below.

I heard him mention Stern at some point in the video. Great seminar..shame there was only 3-4 folks in there! 🥹. This is so fascinating and intrical to pinball design (toyota or testla etc should hire him!). I bet he’s taking a break and going to Stern..that’s my knapp kicking in 😅.
His last words spoke volumes; CGC does NOT talk to their paying customers (or anyone else in the audience). Transparency is not in their core mentality. I wish Butch the best, and reading into this, I hope it was a message in a bottle; we all want to know basic things that still inflict LE buyers, and everything else at that.
I hope he ends up at Spooky. Lord knows they need help in the documentation department
Maybe someone will immortalize him as a character in an original pinball machine as a thanks for all the passion and heart he's put into this hobby...hmm 😃
