New Video of Wonderland Amusements' Alice Goes to Wonderland

This weekend, Wonderland Amusements brought the newest prototype of its upcoming Kickstarter-funded home pinball machine "Alice Goes to Wonderland" to the Wondercon Convention in Anaheim California.

YouTuber Bee Kong of the Kongs R Us arcade channel attended the show and he was kind enough to share pictures and video of the game in action with us. This is probably the clearest gameplay video of the game that I've seen yet. It's also of the latest iteration of the prototype.

I actually am pleasantly surprised by the layout. The game seems to shoot better than I expected it would. Having said that, it did seem to have a few issues with flipper fade and a stuck ball. I also did not get a chance to see any of the video screen because according to Bee Wonderland "had some issues getting [the screen] working" for the event, which isn't a great look, but again this is still a prototype.

The bones are definitely there for a viable product in terms of a surprisingly solid layout. Next time Wonderland shows the game, they need to make sure that it shows the code and video display. Also, I am a little concerned about what sort of impact the new United States tariffs will have on a pinball machine that is imported directly from China. There can't be a lot of margin on a sub-$1,000 pinball machine. Adding a potential 20%+ tariff to that could be a real problem.

The Kickstarter campaign for the game surpassed its goal and is now up to $641,445 raised from 621 backers with 11 days left to go. After seriously considering doing so, I personally did not Kickstart the game. I typically stay away from Kickstarters, at least expensive ones, due to the inherent risk associated with them. The last one that I did was only $30 for the "The Electronic Gaming Monthly Compendium," which looks like it's going to be awesome (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/egmbook/egmcompendium).

Make sure to check out the full Kongs R Us video review of the game below, if gives some shots of what the machine looks like under the playfield for what I believe is the first time ever. Thanks to Bee for sending this over for all of us!

Thanks Bee Kong for getting the scoop on this low budget pinball. Without any implementaton yet and/or demonstration of code/scoring/rules tied into all the playfield lights/switches/pop bumpers/targets/spinners etc... this thing is dead in the water at the moment.
