Stern Pinball Update Adds Cool New JAWS: The Revenge Challenge Mode! to JAWS Pinball

I don't often touch upon code updates here, but yesterday's code update from Stern Pinball for JAWS looks really cool. The new code, version 0.94, added the brand new "JAWS: The Revenge Challenge Mode!" to the game.

The new mode has sweet 8-bit graphics that I'm always a sucker for. It is available to players who are logged into Insider Connected and have collected enough shark teeth during regular game play.

Stern really is the king of code updates for games. Look at how much this just added to the pin using the pictures and rules below. Amazing. I have also included the mode announcement video and footage from a live stream of the new code from Stern HQ last night.

"- Health Meter

     - Each drain will lower meter.

     - Once meter is empty your shark dies and you lose a life (ball). Play moves onto the next life (ball)

     - Shoot the Quickshot gate when the Yellow insert is lit to raise the shark's health meter.

     - Shoot the Ship Wheel spinner on the upper playfield to raise the shark's health meter. (PREM)"

"- Phase 1 - EAT SWIMMERS

     - The 5 main beach shots will have swimmers that can be eaten using the Action Button.

     - Shoot a beach shot to move the shark to that beach.

     - Swimmers can take a few Action Button presses before they are eaten.

     - The more swimmers are eaten, the more increase to the Growth meter.

     - Fill the Growth meter to level up your shark after completing Phase 2.

     - Eat consecutive swimmers without taking damage to raise the Streak multiplier.

     - Shoot the Chum Bucket when lit to spawn a random swimmer.

     - Shoot the Upper Playfield ramp when lit Orange to spawn all swimmers (PREM)

     - Fishing Boats:

          - will appear beach shots as Teal arrows.

          - takes 1 shot to destroy them.

          - throws 2 fisherman into the water when destroyed.

     - Police Boats:

          - will appear beach shots as Red/Blue arrows.

          - will save all swimmers at that beach.

          - will attack shark and lower the health meter ever few seconds when shark is at the same beach.

          - takes 2 shots to destroy them.

     - Each boat destroyed will raise the shark's health meter.

     - Once you eat enough swimmers a Bounty will be placed on you and time will expire on this Phase."

"- Phase 2 - BOUNTY HUNTER

     - Shoot the Boat/Shark Cage to attack Bounty Hunter and drain his meter.

     - Green arrows light for 1X damage and combos can be shot for 2X damage.

     - Shoot the Upper Playfield ramp to drain Bounty Hunter's entire health meter. (PREM)

     - Bounty Hunter will attach a barrel ever few seconds he is alive.

     - Barrels have the following penalties:

          - 1 Barrel - Swimmers take twice as many chomps to eat in the "EAT SWIMMERS" phase.

          - 2 Barrels - Shark cannot Heal.

          - 3 Barrels - Shark Health meter is drained every few seconds.

     - Leveling up your Shark will remove all attached Barrels.

     - Defeating a Bounty Hunter will remove a single attached Barrel.

     - Drain the Bounty Hunter's meter all the way to light a final shot at the Boat/Shark Cage.

     - Higher levels require you to face more than one Bounty Hunter."

"- Phase 3 - BONUS

     - Collect a bonus point value for each Swimmer and Boat that was destroyed for this level.

     - When your Growth meter is full your shark levels up now and resets until you reach Great White.

     - Shark Levels:

          - Mako - 6 chomps per swimmer

          - Thresher - 5 chomps per swimmer

          - Hammerhead - 4 chomps per swimmer

          - Tiger - 3 chomps per swimmer

          - Great White - 2 chomps per swimmer

- Phase 4 - SHARK ALLEY

     - Use Left or Right flipper buttons to chomp swimmers.

     - Don't chomp fellow sharks.

     - Don't wait too long or time will run out.

- Power Up - Shoot lit Drop Targets to light a roving Shark Tower Standup Target to begin a Power up for a limited period.

I'm loving this new mode. I also hear there's a possible topper exclusive mode coming for Jaws soon as well.
