The Walking Dead Pinball Remaster IS Happening at Stern, So is Another Run of…; Spooky Pinball IS Making Motörhead

Writer: JasonJason

Just a quick update re-confirming some earlier rumors that I wrote about for everyone, since word is that people are saying they aren’t true.

A remake of Stern Pinball’s The Walking Dead IS happening this fall. I’m accepting bets on it for anyone who is interested.

Also, Stern is planning on making use of those Aerosmith parts that I saw on my factory tour to make another run sometime in 2025.

Last up for tonight, Pinball Brothers really wanted to get the license for Motörhead pinball last year. Apparently, it’s a big band in parts of Europe. They couldn’t get it though, because as I said Spooky Pinball already has the license and is doing a run of the game that was showed off at TPF. As Spooky said, they are not building Motörhead “in 2025” because it got pushed back in its schedule until 2026.

Time for the disclaimer. As I always say, rumor articles are meant to be fun and generate excitement about the hobby. They’ve existed for decades, all the way back to PinGame Journal and other publications. When I write about a rumor, I try to make express my level of confidence in them but this sort of thing isn’t an exact science. If it was 100% straight from the manufacturer, it wouldn’t be a rumor…it would just be news. I feel very good about all three of the above rumors, but we won’t know for sure until they happen.

I’m really excited about what’s coming up in pinball in 2025. It’s going to be a great year for the hobby.

Stern at the beginning of 24," we are going to stop re-releasing titles that already exist." Stern since then, "here is yet another rerelease!" (Godzilla, Metallica, the walking dead )

As someone newer to the hobby, I've always wanted to try Walking Dead and am excited to hear about an overhaul. There were clearly great and hated things about the original.

TWD is a good game but I feel the IP has gone past its prime. Metallica makes sense because they put out new music since the last game. Will we just get more seasonal content added to TWD? I guess it will be more "complete" from an episodes perspective.

But then this opens a big can of worms for anything released at an early peak (I.E. Stranger Things) that has yet to wrap up their seasonal content.

I'm sure if Tron is "ready to go" they're just waiting to tie it with the new movie release. But like Avatar, isn't Tron going to be a trilogy? Seems odd to release games after the 2nd movie is out. Could they be…

I agree. If the rumors about TRON being ready and then sitting on it are true, they probably are sitting on it waiting to release it closer to the movie.

I don’t see anything wrong with what Stern is doing. Not everyone can afford 7-9k pinball machines especially used ones. I feel fortunate I can buy a nib here and there, but when they stop getting played it’s time for something new. I take what I can get and move on. They all make it to good homes don’t worry. :)

They are remaking WD because it is one of the best games ever made. If WD is too much gore for a family environment, maybe you should get out more. It’s just a TV series. :)
