A couple of days ago, YouTuber Cary Hardy released a new interview with Melvin Williams of Dutch Pinball Exclusive (DPX) about the company's new game Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Here's my notes from the video:

  • Dutch Pinball has finished its production of The Big Lebowski and has switched production over to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. After Alice, Dutch will build its next cornerstone game [heavily rumored to be Back to the Future] and then probably DPX will do another title. They will run together or they will run separately, depending upon the timelines.

  • Several changes have been made to Alice since its public debut at Pinball Expo, including the addition of several new Side Quests and audio callouts. All of infamous audio for the Mad Hatter was redone by a different voice actor. The game has new light shows and a fully playable Wizard Mode.

  • Production of Alice was delayed from its originally planned start date of January / February to March because of a delay in a part coming from China. Dutch Pinball also had a small setback two weeks ago with the lockbars not fitting properly in the cabinets for the first 25 games, which were already in boxes. Dutch decided to completely throw away those cabinets and re-do the games. They continued to build playfields during the delay, so in the upcoming week Dutch will ship the first batch of 50 to 60 games, not just that 25.

  • Within the next 2 to 4 weeks, Dutch expects games to begin shipping to the United States by air. Barry at Dutch Pinball still believes that they can build all 500 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland before the end of the year, as had originally been promised.

  • As a result of the tariffs, the end price in the U.S. is now around $800 higher than it was. Consumers who want to wait until the end of the list to see what happens with the tariffs can do so. Those who are willing to pay the extra tariff can get their game now.

  • If an ordered game is not ready by January 1, 2026 the person who ordered can call up their distributor and get their money back.

  • Dutch Pinball currently has the parts in-house to build 100 to 150 Alice machines. They can build 10 games per week or 40 per month.

  • Alice's code is currently at Version 0.92 or 0.93. Melvin does not necessarily see Version 1.0 as a final code. It's possible that the code will go beyond that.

  • DPX is actively developing its next game. From a "technical standpoint" the next game is pretty much finished [I interpreted this to mean a flipping whitewood]. Melvin does not yet know how many units of the next game it will build. It may be lower than 500. The focus now is to finish building all of the Alice machines before the end of the year. As the end of that production run approaches, hopefully in late 2025, we will likely hear about the next DPX title [which at this point is rumored to be Retro Atomic Zombie Adventureland or Magic Girl]. If Dutch Pinball's next game is ready and they really wanted to, they have a second production line that would enable them to build it and the DPX game at the same time, but it remains to be seen if that will happen.
