Fresh on the heels of yesterday’s big announcement that Christopher Franchi is becoming an exclusive artist for Spooky Pinball, Cary Hardy held a great and very timely interview with Christopher and Bug from Spooky Pinball on his YouTube channel.
Below is a link to the interview and my notes from watching it.
Right off the bat we have something interesting, Franchi is wearing a Beetlejuice t-shirt. A title that Spooky Pinball is rumored to have in the queue. Is Beetlejuice the next game instead of The Goonies? Hmmmm. Below I have included a Beetlejuice translite that Christopher drew several years ago.
Franchi’s favorite art package that he’s ever done is a game that is coming out, followed by Godfather and Elton John.
Christopher had three games that he had done art for other companies on in the pipeline already that he is going to finish. Later he added, that it’s really 2.5 games because there’s one that is “kind of questionable.” My guess is the one that he’s questioning will actually happen is American Pinball’s Masters of the Universe aka He-Man. He went on to add “I doubt that it’s going to get made actually.”
One of the certain projects is likely Dutch Pinball’s Back to the Future. I’m not sure what the third game is.
Spooky has Franchi working on three games right now. A fourth game was in the works prior to this exclusive agreement with him that uses a different artist. So wow that’s 4 games in the works at Spooky Pinball right now.
Spooky’s next game is multi-level and has four flippers. Spooky Luke had the most direction in the design of this game.
Spooky has no dual-themed pinball releases planned with two different themes sharing the same playfield layout, like its current release Looney Tunes and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The lower portion of the playfield in Spooky’s next game contains something that has never been done before.
The first show that Spooky’s next game will be at is “Pinball at the Beach,” which takes place from February 7-9, 2025.
His other one is Batman 89
