Back in March, I wrote here about an awesome new homebrew pinball machine based on the "Saw" series of movies. Tune in tonight on Twitch to see the new and improved game!
The game, spearheaded and programmed by Austin Carrigan with Eric Klotz and Joe Farnsworth on Engineering and Glenn Waechter on Music and Callouts, has been in constant development since its public debut at the Texas Pinball Festival. Since then, the game has gone from:
548 to 583 LEDs
184,085 to 325,217 lines of code
374 to 471 custom songs, speech, and sound effects
265 unique light shows
That's some very impressive progress on an already cool pinball machine. Below is a sneak peek at some of the game's new features as well as all of the info about the stream.
Little billy secret mode.Â
Hold the left flipper before plunge and the mode qualifies after 2 purple shots then get into the bathroom scoop.
Unlimited ball save for 60 seconds.
Every 10 seconds the flippers change .
If this isn’t chaotic enough, maybe polka music that rivals the Kenosha Kickers will help set the tone of how ridiculous this mode is. For those attending expo, definitely aim for this!
Disc mode adaptation on missed mode shots enables the discs for 3 seconds when unlit shots are made in modes.
Expanding on jigsaw’s workshop now adds another layer of strategy to the game. When a shot type is hit then the corresponding item that’s tied to the shot type will flash and slowly pulse until the item is collected.
The color coded items correspond to the same color mode for additional perks and assistance when navigating through the modes.
Dome lights upgraded to create a unique lightshow integration.
The game is constantly evolving and adapting to the player. Every trap mode attempted changes to more intense music throughout the progression of the game . Each trap mode completed will change the configuration of the playfield’s white shots, which are needed to spell SAW and start your primary modes.
Think of the white vs red arrows as a pendulum. 3 red arrows in a row puts the player in a hostage frenzy mode.
The wizard mode has a fresh spin in pinball with a “choose your adventure “ approach. After completing each phase the player has to make a decision with each mode vastly different and with over a dozen possible paths it creates a different end game experience .
There are new Easter eggs hidden in the apron and art blades that expanded to a shout out to nearly 100 players of the Tennessee pinball community.Â
There’s even an integrated fog machine to make things Spooky.Â
A custom pinball transport armor with felt interior made by Cher Farnsworth , who also did the Amanda callouts.

That's awesome. I can't believe that hasn't been done yet given all the challenge modes and toys you could put on the playfield with of course a countdown for each until you lose, and of course different things you must hit to escape or set someone loose in trap #1 before you can move on to trap #2 and so on...
